About:

Tobie was raised in Indonesia and started playing classical piano and drum since he was 6 years old. He competed in piano solo annual competitions against pianists from all over Indonesia and won Top 3 positions every year from 2011 to 2015. He also competed against pianists from all over the South Pacific and won top 3 positions in years 2012 and 2014. He became a drummer for his school band from Year 4 all the way until his high school graduation. In 2016 after graduation, he coached his high school band that won Top 3 positions in both Indonesia and in the South Pacific. He loves the different genres of music ranging from classical to gospel and jazz to Disney. He even likes to beatbox and sing in the shower as well! Ooh la la! Lastly, he enjoys teaching children and also has experience with teaching and taking care of autistic children.

What are your earliest memories of studying Piano?
“I was crying during my piano lessons. Now I look back and wondered why. Because until this very day, I never regretted learning the piano and I love playing it.”

What is your favorite thing about being able to play music?
“I can jam with my friends wherever and whenever and have heaps of fun with them.”
