Starting his musical journey with piano lessons at the age of 6, Michaels passion for music continues to grow every day. With over 18 years piano experience, he has a comprehensive understanding of all music genres from early Baroque, all the way through to contemporary pop and jazz. Michael has played in multiple ensembles from rock, electronic, pop, jazz, progressive to classical. During his undergraduate studies, Michael focused heavily on musicology, song writing and composition giving him a strong understanding on all aspects of musical theory.
Michael believes that everyone has the ability to learn music and that is an excellent way to express yourself, as well as a great way to keep the mind active and positive. His teaching methods reflect this, in where each of his tailored lessons are to ensure each individual student not only learns a lot, but has a lot of fun in doing so and walks away each week happy and eager for their next lesson.
What’s your favourite song you belt out in the car?
“Luminol by Steven Wilson. That bass riff gets me every time.”
If I could play at any venue in the world, where would it be and why?
“I would play a headlining show at Acer Arena; what a pleasure it would be on a stage where my idols have previously played, not to mention the amazing atmosphere of a large stadium.”
