About:Aimee is a well trained professional Saxophonist with over 15 years of study. She took an early interest in music at the age of 8. Later on she attended Newtown High School of the Performing Arts and developed an array of musical skills in solo performance and multiple ensembles. These included Saxophone quartets, orchestras and stage bands. With her successful completion of her AmusA in Saxophone just after High school she continued to study at the University of Sydney where she completed a Bachelor of Music. Aimee showed an interest in teaching at the age of 18 where she also learnt multiple woodwind instruments such as the Clarinet and Flute as well as studying Piano and Guitar under multiple tutors. Aimee loves to teach her passions of language, arts and music to her students in hopes that they will one day succeed in their artistic endeavours.
What was the first instrument you ever picked up?
“The Alto Saxophone was my first and only
choice as a kid. I insisted on learning it at a young age and signed up for the band in year 3.”
What has been a stand out in your music career?
“ Performing in the Sydney Eisteddfod in 2017 and placing in the Finals as a top 6 contender was a highlight of my music career. It gave me the confidence to perform by memory and in front of a large audience.”
What’s the weirdest thing you do to calm your nerves before a performance?
“I don’t practice too
much right before a performance as it makes me more nervous. I sit there and go to the bathroom
many times and read my music like a novel!”
